The work focuses on the different perception of sexes in the animal and plant world. While in one, only a single norm is broadly accepted, a hermaphroditic plant hardly encounters incomprehension, and the question of sex fades into the background. What is it that bothers some people so much about falling out of the “norm”? What is a “norm” actually, and who defines it?
