ÖH insurance
Liability and accident insurance
All students and their underage children are covered by accident and liability insurance through the ÖH for the entire semester by paying the tuition fee, as 0.70 euros of the tuition fee is paid to the insurance company. However, if you have not paid your tuition fee in one semester for any reason, you are only insured until the end of the grace period of the following semester. You are insured as long as your student ID is still valid.
If you have to make a claim on the insurance, you must take care of the claim report etc. yourself, as although the ÖH is the policyholder, i.e. the contractual partner of Generali AG, you as a student are the insured person.
The responsible insurance company is Generali Versicherungs-AG, with which the Austrian Student Union (Federal Representation) has concluded a framework agreement.
Important: The ÖH insurance is NOT HEALTH INSURANCE!

What type of damage is covered?
In principle, the insurance covers all damage events in the area of accident and liability insurance that may arise during your studies. Also insured are accidents and damage in student dormitories, USI courses, ÖH events or internships or clinical clerkships that are related to your studies. In addition, the journeys to and from the buildings, grounds or activities mentioned above are also included. This also applies to semesters abroad; after all, your insurance cover extends all over the world! Except for liability claims in the USA, Canada and Australia.
The liability insurance is valid for up to 1 million euros for property damage and personal injury to third parties. The accident insurance covers 7,500 euros for accident costs, 50,000 euros for permanent disability and 15,000 euros for accidental death. In addition, you will be reimbursed half of your tuition fees if you are hospitalized for more than 3 weeks as a result of an accident.
Damage report
If damage occurs, the next step is to report the damage. It is best to include all the documents, evidence, police reports, etc. that you have at this point – this makes the processing process easier and shorter. You must definitely send a current confirmation of registration. But always keep a copy of the documents with you, otherwise you will not know later what you have already sent.
The damage report is sent by email to: oeh-versicherung.at@generali.com
Forms for reporting the damage:
Liability insurance: damage report-general_liability_afb
Accident insurance: damage report_accident_afb
In an emergency, there are telephone numbers for reporting damage: Mon – Fri 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and for emergencies 24 hours
from Austria: 01 515900
from abroad: +43 (1) 204 4400
Settlement + Payement of a claim
Once the process has been completed, either payment is made or the respective case is rejected. To ensure that only legitimate cases are rejected, the ÖH has written a special clause into the insurance contract. This stipulates that if you receive a rejection that you believe is unjustified, you can contact the ÖH so that they can discuss your case again with the insurer’s project team.
If you would like to come back to this, write an email to wiref@oeh.ac.at. Your data will of course be treated confidentially!
If you have a question about a settled or outstanding claim, simply contact the email address that you received in the initial information or payment information.
